VULAMATHUBA EMPUMELELO’S CAREER EXHIBITION INSPIRES HIGH SCHOOL LEARNERS TO PURSUE POST-SCHOOL EDUCATION AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Over 250 learners from schools in Du Noon, Langa, and Maitland attended Vulamathuba Empumelelo’s first Career Development Exhibition for high school learners.

Learners were exposed to various career paths and bursary opportunities for different streams. They had the chance to interact with tertiary institutions like the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), TVET colleges (Northlink, False Bay College, and College of Cape Town), and bursary schemes like NSFAS and Vulamathuba Empumelelo Bursary Fund.

Professor Nicola Plastow from the University of Stellenbosch advised the learners on achieving success, and Communicare’s Human Capital team ensured the learners would ace any future  university or employment interview.

The Career Exhibition forms part of Vulamathuba Empumelelo’s economic mobility programme that aims to improve the ability of beneficiaries to gain access to PIVITOL (Professional, Vocational, Technical, and Academic Learning) programmes, thus, helping beneficiaries to foster a career path at the Basic Education level.

The event targeted schools from previously marginalised communities with limited resources.

Vulamathuba Empumelelo will host the event annually, expanding the organisation’s impact by creating an enabling environment for beneficiaries to thrive.
