It was a long wait — but worth every second.

After a careful shortlisting process, Vulamathuba Empumelelo proudly hosted our official bursary induction for the Class of 2025. These deserving students were finally invited to accept their bursary offers, and the energy in the room said it all: excitement, relief, and deep gratitude.

The induction wasn’t just an admin day — it was a celebration of potential and a promise that no student walks this journey alone.

Bursary recipients from across the city

Most of the newly inducted students hail from top institutions in the Western Cape, including:

  • University of Cape Town (UCT)
  • University of the Western Cape (UWC)
  • Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
  • College of Cape Town
  • False Bay TVET College
  • Northlink College

Applications for 2025 are still open at several institutions. If you’re still planning your academic future, don’t wait:

Real gratitude, real stories

One of the returning bursars, Zandile Zingelwa (23) from Goedehoop, shared her joy with us on the day:

“I’m honestly beyond grateful. Vulamathuba has changed my life. I even went to test for my driver’s license right after the induction — and I passed! The voucher I used was a reward from Vula for my great marks. I have no words. Just… thank you.”

Stories like Zandile’s are exactly why this work matters. At Vulamathuba, we don’t just provide financial support — we reward excellence, we open doors, and we invest in futures.

More than a bursary: A full support system

This year, students were especially excited to learn that their bursary comes with access to a mentorship programme.

This support system is designed to help them navigate university life, manage academic pressures, and connect with others walking the same path.

Because education isn’t only about grades — it’s about growth, community, and resilience.

What’s next?

Our first mentorship session of the year is just around the corner and will be held in Green Point.

We’ll share more in our next article, so stay tuned and keep your eyes on this space.
