Meet Alungile, a Junior Administrator for goodfind Properties. His goal is to become a Property Manager. This is a giant’s strides for a young man, who started out as a Community Development intern at Communicare in 2019!
Growing up in Flagstaff, in the Eastern Cape, Alungile always dreamt of owning properties in major cities like Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban. After completing a Bachelor of Human Settlements at the University of Fort Hare, he stumbled upon community development. He saw an internship opportunity at Communicare’s social development arm, Vulamathuba, and applied for it.
As an intern, Alungile assisted in coordinating the second chance matric programme; supported beneficiaries of the Zerilda Steyn bursary; as well as unemployed youth, through the job seekers’ initiatives.
“I dedicated the duration of my internship to empower other young people, so that they can achieve their personal development and growth goals. The internship proved to be a huge learning opportunity, the best way to kickstart one’s career. All one needs to do is to be fully engaged, take on any responsibility you’re given and give it your best, ” he said.
The youngest of thirteen siblings, Alungile is naturally an introvert. The internship helped him improve his interpersonal skills, which include customer service, communication, and leadership – skills necessary in his current role.
Current work responsibilities
Alungile’s work entails: responding to tenant queries; resolving cases logged by tenants via our call centre; filling property vacancies; facilitating viewings and doing entry inspections.
“The best part of the job is helping someone find a new home!”
Alungile has not lost sight of his property management career aspirations, he has asked of his seniors to mentor him.
Alungile, described himself as a very persistent person, who always gives 100% in everything he does. As a father to a seven-year-old , he knows how important this is, as his son emulates his every action. “I strive every day to be a father he can look up to and be proud of.”
