Education is a powerful catalyst for transformation, and the Vulamathuba Bursary Fund embodies this fundamental belief. Committed to supporting students pursuing critical and scarce qualifications, our bursary programme empowers individuals from diverse backgrounds to unlock their full potential.
By providing comprehensive support including financial aid, academic guidance, and mentorship, we’re building pathways to success for community members who demonstrate determination and promise.
Meet Our Inspiring Bursary Fund Alumnus
Our bursary alumni demonstrate the profound impact of educational opportunity. These remarkable individuals showcase how targeted support can change lives, break cycles of limitation, and create ripple effects of positive change within our communities.
We had the privilege of speaking with some of our bursary fund alumnus who shared how this opportunity has transformed their lives.
Anati Sangqu (41), Kraaifontein and previous Communicare tenant
“When I applied for the Vulamathuba bursary, I was unable to fund my studies, but the bursary made it possible for me to complete my Diploma in Project Management. I am now employed in my field of study and have received more responsibility after completing my studies. I went on to complete my BCom Honours after finishing my Diploma in Project Management.
This opportunity has allowed me to purchase a car and house for myself, and I am now happily married with two kids. I would not have been where I am today if it were not for the Vulamathuba bursary fund.”
Lauren Nicole Abrahams (27), Ruyterwacht
“Financially I was not able to fund my studies and that’s when Vulamathuba stepped in and assisted me with bursary funding. I graduated in 2022 with a BA General majoring in psychology and sociology. I currently work in procurement, and I intend to go back to school in 2025 to finish my Honours in Psychology. I also benefitted from the free driving lessons which were offered to the bursary students and got my driver’s license. I’m forever grateful for this”.
Craig Titus (36), Bothasig Gardens
My situation was very bad, and I was unemployed, before receiving the bursary to do the Fibre Optic Technician course. I could not afford to pay for the course. I’m currently working for a company that does fibre optics. The Vulamathuba intervention made a big change in my life. My situation is much better. I would like to study further.”
Henry Ricardo Wildskut (37), Ruyterwacht and previous Communicare tenant
“I always wanted to complete my studies, but it was difficult to pay for it and then Vulamathuba granted me the opportunity to fund me for the Bachelor in Education. When I lost my previous job, I could go into teaching after completing my course. I’m a high school teacher in Delft. I’ve since bought a property in Ruyterwacht”.
A Lifelong Lesson for All
The alumnus imparted invaluable advice to those aspiring to study further. They believe you are never too old to learn and grow; follow your passion and you’ll never feel like you work a day in your life.
