On the first Saturday of July 2024, Vulamathuba Empumelelo welcomed 44 adult learners to their 2024/2025 matriculation class.
Vulamathuba’s matriculation programme (Senior Amended Certificate) aims to empower participants who have never taken matric exams or those wishing to improve their results, offering them an opportunity to obtain their Grade 12 uMalusi certificate. This qualification will enable them to access PIVOTAL (Professional, Vocational, Technical and Academic Learning) programmes such as university courses, TVET colleges, etc., thereby increasing their employment opportunities.
Matriculant Backgrounds and Aspirations
This year’s matriculants consist of both employed and unemployed learners. Twenty-six students are completing matric for the first time, having achieved either ABET L4 or grades 9 to 11 as their highest passed grade. Eighteen students are seeking to upgrade their results to gain entry to scarce and critical skills training at tertiary institutions.
