‘Tis the season to be jolly, they say, but for the Vulamathuba Empumelelo team, it was also the season to be giving as they pledged and gave shoeboxes filled with toiletries, clothing, stationery, toys and sweet treats to the Santa Shoebox Project. Now in its 18th year, this children’s charity has provided these shoeboxes brimmed with love to more than 1 150 0000 less fortunate children throughout South Africa.

Team Spirit
The team members either contributed money or bought the items to place in the boxes, while two staff members, Ashleigh Lawrence and Kenalemang Tlholagae beautifully decorated the boxes.

Here’s some feedback from some of the staff who participated:
“This project made me feel excited and grateful to give. I just hope the kids felt the love.”-Ashleigh Lawrence.

“It felt amazing to know that the gesture would make a child smile and that their Xmas would be no different regardless of their home circumstances”- Siphosethu Gajana.
“It is important to think of those less fortunate, and if you can give, do it. Your contribution brings so much joy and happiness to children who might not normally have experienced receiving a gift. By giving you are making them feel part of the magic and joy of the festive season.” Joe Africa
