As we celebrate love in all its forms this February, our Vulamathuba programme demonstrates the deepest expression of community care—a love that protects, supports, and empowers. Our World AIDS Day initiatives from December 2024 continue to resonate, showcasing how genuine compassion means caring for every community member.

Love in action: Supporting our youth

Nearly 200 young people from across our communities—including learners from Sinenjongo High School in Du Noon and residents of Goedehoop, Reyger Court, Drommedaris, and Bothasig Gardens—received more than just information. They received a message of love and support through interactive workshops that went beyond medical facts.

Expert facilitators from TB/HIV Care and the YMCA led compassionate discussions that showed our youth they are valued, supported, and never alone. By addressing prevention, transmission, and breaking down stigma, we share a profound love that protects and empowers.

Caring for our seniors: A love that knows no age

Understanding that love and care must span generations, we partnered with TB/HIV Care and Living Hope nurses to provide specialised education sessions. At Drommedaris and Mez Wallach, our senior residents received tailored support that recognises their unique health needs and dignity.

These sessions were more than health workshops—they were acts of love, affirming that every community member deserves comprehensive care and attention.

Spreading love through information

To ensure no one feels isolated or uninformed, we distributed educational materials across four complexes and sent SMS notifications. Each message carried health information and reminded us of our collective care and commitment to one another.

Love is protection, love is support

Our multi-generational approach embodies a fundamental truth: community health is an expression of love. We believe in creating an environment where every resident feels supported, informed, and valued.

This Valentine’s Day reminds us that love isn’t just about romantic gestures—it’s about showing up for each other, protecting one another, and ensuring everyone has the knowledge and support to live their healthiest life.

Remember: Knowledge is love. Prevention is care.
